Forty Two Rowers and 7 Coxswains traveled to Tampa Florida for the 4th year in a row for the annual winter training trip. The team was able to practice twice a day and have meals in the University of South Florida Dining Hall. Practices were focused on low rating and high power workouts to start the week as well as very technically focused afternoon rows. The time early in the week was used to help remember how to row on the water and emphasize power and precision. Later in the week the pace increased and the heat was turned up on the canal with some 5 boats across seat racing to try and start determining boat lineups for the spring racing season. The team crammed 13 rows into 7 days and was able to make tremendous progress both technically and in boat speed. The coaches are excited for what this early season speed could lead to. The Men of Rutgers Crew are now back indoors for a few weeks while the Raritan thaws from the tremendously cold end of January. The team hopes to be back on the water in just a few short weeks gearing up for a quickly approaching racing season!
